Milton Players Present “Little Shop of Horrors” October/November 2019

It was a totally epic session when I got to photograph the cast headshots for The Milton Players production of “Little Shop of Horrors” which is being presented October 25 – November 3, 2019.

And it was quite impressive that all of them arrived at my studio together, now that’s some great stage management!

Walpole Theatrical Performance Photography by Walpole Theatrical Photographer, Dan Busler {Boeing Boeing Walpole Footlighters}

I think that “madcap” is a good word to explain the Walpole Footlighters production of Boeing Boeing, a play about a guy and another guy who comes to visit him in Paris, and the three stewardess’ who are all engaged to the one guy and a maid who tries to coordinate it all … and   …. it’s a crazy mixed up comedy

The audience had a ball as the story unfolded and took flight .

I on the other hand got to photograph it … and that was tough because I was laughing …!

“She Kills Monsters” written by Qui Nguyen

… you go into this play without a notion of the subject matter and come out with a better understanding of the teenage mind. We all struggle with the things that affect us. Here in this “dramatic comedy” we get to see the struggles and the fight to control them come alive. Even if most of the characters are no longer alive.

Well, that’s what I got out of it.  Along with some very dynamic and moving pictures of this fine cast at Norwood High School in Norwood MA – November 2014

Boston Theatrical Headshot Photography by Walpole Headshot Photographer, Dan Busler {The perfect headshot}

What type of headshot do you need ?

The answer is “the perfect one” to get you the gig.

OK, so we get together and we have a fabulous session and you have that perfect headshot.

And you show up for the acting or modeling call … you hand it in, they look intently at your headshot … look up at you and then they ask the dreaded question “Do you have anything else ?” ( Meaning another pose, or expression or outfit or background)

Terror!  Ah … that’s my “perfect headshot” it’s … freaking perfect!

If you don’t have a variety of other shots to offer they will whip out their “point and shoot” or phone and take a shot of you … with your hair and makeup … “not perfect”. That picture gets stapled to your headshot and resume and … “Next !”

You can’t know what they are looking for – but you can come prepared. So in addition to your perfect headshot you can have images of you smiling, serious, formal, casual, “waist up” and “full length”,  fierce, sweet, urban chic and “flannel”.

The comp card can also be the answer – it’s a quick look at all your looks.

Remember – the purpose of your headshot is so that they will remember you.  Versatile, epic, handsome / beautiful / stunning / approachable / awesome  you.

Boston Opera Photography by Walpole MA Opera Photographer, Dan Busler {Boston Opera Collaborative}

When I was asked to photograph a couple of performances by the Boston Opera Collaborative I knew that it was going to be an honor and a very cool event.

They were doing Albert Herring – a comic opera – but I had no idea how much comic acting would be involved by this talented group of singers.

The colors, staging, vocal abilities, and on and on made this amazing to see and to photograph.

You can see more of my work on my WEB site http://www.danbuslerphotography.com – We love photographing theatrical events – we’re located just south of Boston in Walpole, MA  781-352-4863

Boston Harbor Photography by Walpole MA Wedding Portrait Event Photographer, Dan Busler

I was aboard the Spirit of Boston cruise line recently to photograph an event and noticed a number of small sail boats at just the right angle to the setting sun to make some pretty cool shots.

This was being in the right place, at the right time, and some downtime … and my camera !

Walpole Theatrical Performance Photography by Walpole Event Photographer, Dan Busler {Walpole Footlighters}

2014 marks the 90th anniversary of The Walpole Footlighters in Walpole MA.

You may not be aware of it, but community theater groups are performing every week around the country. This is not just a few friends who put on a show in the barn.

You’ll find extremely talents kids, college students, recent college grads who are building a resume, former professional actors who got a “day job” but can’t think of leaving the theater and so many others who audition (seriously competitive auditions), rehearse and perform … because they just have to share the gifts that they have inside of themselves.

And then there are the spouses, family and friends – they are they carpenters, set and costume designers, stage managers, lighting technicians, ushers and accountants who allow the show to go on and look awesome each night.

Like so many others before I knew better – I thought that a community theater production would be less than professional in the performances, costumes and sets. I was so wrong.

I’ve put together a slideshow for the Footlighters 90th gala with some images from their archives and some of my photos from their productions. I hope that you will enjoy it.

For over 90 years – the Walpole Footlighters have been dedicated to bringing quality productions to the people.

Norwood Theatrical Photography by Walpole Theatrical Photographer, Dan Busler {Rozenkrantz and Guildenstern}

This is kind of a “Throw Back Thursday” post.

The show, Rozencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is (in my opinion) one of the most challenging plays that a high school group can take on. The dialogue is rapid fire and really hard to perform. It’s also wicked hard for the audience to understand! HA !

Norwood High School in Norwood MA presented the show as one of the final performances of their 2005 school year season. It proved to be a showcase for a talented group of students.  I still feel that the actors didn’t realize the great job that they did with this very difficult material.

Norwood Choir Concert Photography by Walpole Senior Portrait Event Photographer, Dan Busler { Norwood Schools 3rd Annual Concert }

The Norwood Public Schools (Norwood MA) Fine Arts Department presented The 3rd Annual Choral Collage Concert on January 30, 2014 in the Norwood High School Performing Arts Center … featuring Chris Martin and Ashley Nelson – the wicked awesome Choral Directors and Susan Fortin, the wicked epic Accompanist.

It was a night of singing and dancing and clapping and laughing and …well, it couldn’t have been a better night even if they had if they had served fried chicken! (OK, fried chicken would have made it better .. )

I hope that they’re already planning the 4th Annual Concert … maybe they’ll serve chicken? !!
