The Boy with that Smile {Portrait}

The simple innocent faces that Children make have a way of stopping me in my tracks when I am photographing an event.

And they get my undivided attention … and more that a few photographs.

Normally it’s best when they are not posing for me, but just loving the attention and laughing as I snap off a few .. OK, a dozen quick shots of them.

It’s usually not until I get back to my office that I see that magic that I have captured.

Too bad that the innocence leaves us.

Cara Stanley – with the Family

I look for natural smiles when I shoot portraits …
I wait for them. With Cara I didn’t have to wait

Cause every shot was almost perfect and I don’t think that she was posing .

So I asked her to give me a serious smile … but her eyes just kept smiling

It was a great day to shoot this beautiful family

The Amherst Bluestockings

The girls from Amherst College aka The Bluestockings were one of the featured performers at Norwood High School’s “A Cappella Night” about a week ago. It’s seems that I am always in the dark at these events … trying to get the shot, waiting for their nose to come out from behind the microphone … with just a second I try to capture a smile, etc.
Sometime I succeed.

The Family Squeezed In!

Capturing a family reunion is such a joy for me. The generations all gathered together. Adults become the children as their parents tell them what to do. The kids running everywhere. It’s GREAT!
I set up in the living room for the “whole family” shot and then everyone poured in. …”Squeeze in” I just kept saying … “squeeze in”. Finally I got a few shots, even those are cray portraits, believe me, this is about as good as you can hope for.
Everyone was laughing, the kids couldn’t understand what was going on.
But I knew. The love in that room was simply infectious.
It’s a good kind of infection though … Hey! you! squeeze in! …a little tighter.
