Just a Moment in Time – Priceless

Many artists agree that there is beauty in life’s candid moments.

Unposed people, just interacting, conversing and enjoying each other’s company often makes for the most interesting images.

Many years ago I learned an important lesson about capturing the beauty of the candid moment.  Look behind you, because stuff is happening there too.

I photographed this image recently at a backyard party. Everywhere you look in this image, there is something happening.  Small groups of people having conversations, laughing, some discussing more serious subjects, some are looking away, ready to move on to the next group and their next discussion.

So, even though this image is dark and grainy (shot at ISO 32000!), it caught my attention. You see, it’s not always the image with the perfect exposure and perfect pose that makes it precious, but the contect of the image itself.

Deb and Mark – Their 40th Wedding Anniversary – Video

Each wedding anniversary is a milestone and a time to be celebrated.

For the life you’ve built as a couple, for the life challenges you’ve  endured as a couple and for the love you have for each other.

I met Deb at a business networking event. We started talking about the surprise party she was planning to celebrate the 40th wedding to the man who is her rock . This was going to be a cocktail party with the ladies in beautiful dresses, men in tuxedos and classic entertainment.

And I knew that Deb was going to pull it off.

Deb is the most alive person you will ever meet. With a smile that literally lights up the room. Mark is quieter and smiles broadly when he sees friends or Deb, the love of his life.

So what makes this event so special?

To be candid, all couples have their story. The life story that they have written together. With the high points, the low points and the moments that test everything.

I don’t know Deb and Mark’s whole story, just a small piece.

Both of their Sons have disabilities that require 24 hour care. So Deb and Mark haven’t taken extended vacations separately or together, ever.

This event was a tribute and a celebration of their relationship, the friends who they have relied on and the caregivers who have been with them for many years.

Here’s just a peek at the party. The entrance of the bride and (surprised ) groom, the embraces, the decorations and the pure joy on everyone’s faces as they all celebrated with Deb and Mark.

Fernando Morales Norwood High Graduate

“Rest in sweet peace Fern, and begin your journey as your family’s guardian angel, we’ll take care of keeping your legacy alive down here” #cancersucks

These are some comments from Fernando Morales’ friends the day he died.

Fernando Morales was a 2013 graduate of Norwood High School in Norwood MA.

I had the great pleasure of photographing his senior high school portraits in the summer of 2012. And I am truly honored that the family chose one of the images for the program at his funeral

He lived his life focused on helping others and inspired everyone he touched.

I remember Fernando’s senior session very well. His cancer had been in remission, but had come back and he was weak. I kept thinking that we should make the session as easy as possible for him. But he wanted to go to all the usual spots around my studio’s outdoor locations.

He was a very serious person and had a beautiful smile. I thought as we were shooting his pictures “this is such a solid person” – confident, strong, proud and un-shakeable.

This slideshow includes some photos of Fernando from his senior portrait session and comments from his family and friends which were posted to his Facebook and Instagram pages the day he died; January 16, 2015, and for a few days after as well.

Norwood Musical Group Photography by Walpole Family Photographer, Dan Busler {Rancho de Norwood}

Rancho De Norwood is a group of Portuguese musicians and dancers who carry on the traditions of their ancestors.

The group ranges from very young to older folks.

I was so stoked to have the opportunity to photograph the group We met at the famous “stone structure” at Bird Park in Walpole MA.

The mood was festive and fun.  What you don’t see is the absolute party that was happening behind me as I photographed each group. There was music and dancing and laughing !

I was also impressed at how well the children behaved. Each time a group was called they came right up.

Even the musicians behaved themselves … even though they do like they are a mischievous bunch .. HA!

Boston Wedding Photography by Walpole Wedding and Portrait Photographer, Dan Busler Walpole MA {Eric and Patricia Wefald}

To say that Eric and Patricia are in love is such an understatement – they are love – love of each other, love of their families, love of life.

I’ve known Eric and his Parents for many years, so it was cool to be asked to photograph his weeding day to the lovely Patricia.

Their ideas for images that they wanted from the day went so far beyond the standard and into the perfect … the perfect way to capture who they are as a couple, their love of music and each other.

And the sparklers were a great touch !

Norwood Choir Concert Photography by Walpole Senior Portrait Event Photographer, Dan Busler { Norwood Schools 3rd Annual Concert }

The Norwood Public Schools (Norwood MA) Fine Arts Department presented The 3rd Annual Choral Collage Concert on January 30, 2014 in the Norwood High School Performing Arts Center … featuring Chris Martin and Ashley Nelson – the wicked awesome Choral Directors and Susan Fortin, the wicked epic Accompanist.

It was a night of singing and dancing and clapping and laughing and …well, it couldn’t have been a better night even if they had if they had served fried chicken! (OK, fried chicken would have made it better .. )

I hope that they’re already planning the 4th Annual Concert … maybe they’ll serve chicken? !!

Norwood Family Event Photography by Walpole Family Event Photographer, Dan Busler {Christine and Rich Yodsukar Weddings and Receptions}

Two weddings, a winery visit and three wedding receptions – that’s the way you do it when you’re my Daughter.

And that’s the way it should be.

May 2013 we all headed out to Los Angeles .

First there was the traditional Thai wedding at the Wat Thai temple in Los Angeles

Then the reception with lots of traditional Thai food and lots of family

The next day we headed to Malibu for a winery visit and some tasting at at Saddle Rock Ranch. What a nice relaxing day with family and friends

The next day; Sunday we were off again to Malibu for my Daughter’s “western” ( no not country and western … HA!) wedding day. On top of a mountain … overlooking a winery. Yea, it was majestic to say the least!

Now fast forward to December … My Daughter … Christine and my Son-In-Law Rich, came home for a special reception at Sky Restaurant in Norwood MA. Finally the subject of this post .. you are thinking! And you’re right!

Family and family friends all came out for the east coast celebration of my Daughter’s wedding.

Letting go of my fav redhead is not easy .. but I’m working on it.

Two weddings, a winery visit and three wedding receptions.   That’s the way you do it !

Norwood School Event Photography by Walpole Event Photographer, Dan Busler {Fantasy Footsteps}

It’s all a fantasy … all make believe and fun too at Norwood’s Fantasy Footsteps event for young believers in the magic of fairy tales.

The event is held in the dimmly lit halls of Norwood MA Savage Center around the time … but not on Halloween. Students put on short skits to the joy and amusement of the youngest kids.
