Don’t Dress for Dinner – The Walpole Footlighters – Dan Busler Photography

The Walpole Footlighters, a community theater located in Walpole MA is hard at work preparing rehearsing for their presentation of Don’t Dress for Dinner by Marc Camoletti
Adapted by Robin Hawdon  and  Directed by Dan Delaporta.

The cast includes a number of familiar faces and a few new ones.

I recently had the pleasure to photograph the cast’s headshots for the theater’s lobby gallery.

The show runs February 4 – 19, 2017

I think that “madcap” is a good word to explain the Walpole Footlighters production of Boeing Boeing, a play about a guy and another guy who comes to visit him in Paris, and the three stewardess’ who are all engaged to the one guy and a maid who tries to coordinate it all … and   …. it’s a crazy mixed up comedy

The audience had a ball as the story unfolded and took flight .

I on the other hand got to photograph it … and that was tough because I was laughing …!

2014 marks the 90th anniversary of The Walpole Footlighters in Walpole MA.

You may not be aware of it, but community theater groups are performing every week around the country. This is not just a few friends who put on a show in the barn.

You’ll find extremely talents kids, college students, recent college grads who are building a resume, former professional actors who got a “day job” but can’t think of leaving the theater and so many others who audition (seriously competitive auditions), rehearse and perform … because they just have to share the gifts that they have inside of themselves.

And then there are the spouses, family and friends – they are they carpenters, set and costume designers, stage managers, lighting technicians, ushers and accountants who allow the show to go on and look awesome each night.

Like so many others before I knew better – I thought that a community theater production would be less than professional in the performances, costumes and sets. I was so wrong.

I’ve put together a slideshow for the Footlighters 90th gala with some images from their archives and some of my photos from their productions. I hope that you will enjoy it.

For over 90 years – the Walpole Footlighters have been dedicated to bringing quality productions to the people.

There’s a fox on the fairway! But this fox is the two legged kind … and she’s got her next victim in her sights.

The Walpole Footlighters in Walpole MA present Ken Ladwig’s The Fox on the Fairway directed by Frank Moffett – February 7 – 23, 2014 at their theater in Walpole.

This wild comedy takes us to the Quail Valley Country Club as they prepare to take on their rival Crouching Squirrel in the annual inter-club golf tournament.

I was there for the media photo sessions and the show is hilarious ! You do not want to miss a second of this fabulous show.

But which one of these lovely ladies is the “fox” ???

And which of these unsuspecting guys … is her prey??

You’ll just have to wait to find out !

For those of us who have wondered what it must be like in the “writers room” of a sitcom or SNL .. or, well the list goes on …

The Walpole Footlighters gave us a little look when they presented Laughter on the 23rd Floor. And after seeing it I must say that it’s a lot more serious and crazy and funny that I had ever imagined !

These characters are real “characters” to be sure. Just take a look!

The cast …
and crew !

Laughter on the 23rd Floor is a play – no, a character study that was written by Neil Simon.

It’s all about this crazy group of comedy show writers in the days when TV was the best show in town.

I had the opportunity to photograph that cast and a performance by the Walpole Footlighters in Walpole MA. … It was a hoot!  and I never talk like that HA!
